FRIDAY BOARD BULLETIN 3/30/18

Board Members:

I am sending this out a bit early this week since I will be out of the office tomorrow. It has been another very busy week!

On Monday we shot a promotional video with the help of Echo Development that will be used to market both Hudson and our school district. This afternoon, we met with our architects to review the progress that has been made with our master planning process, and I can tell you the ideas that have been put forth are very exciting! And in between those bookends was a plethora of activity!

The legislature is working very quickly, with just about two and a half weeks remaining a lot of work remains to be accomplished! The governor signed a number of bills this week, of greatest interest to you is the assessment bill. This bill does legislate the Iowa Assessment as the statewide assessment and finally puts to rest the ongoing drama that has drug on the last five plus years. Action was taken this week on SAVE legislation, education flexibility, and the education omnibus bill. A bill that requires school districts to have safety plans in place by the end of the 2019 school year has been sent to the governor. The operational sharing bill continues to languish in the Senate appropriations committee.

National Honor Society Induction

The picture I am sharing this week if from the National Honor Society induction which was held on Monday evening. It was great to pay tribute to this fine group of students who have met the requirements for this prestigious organization. I was also impressed with a presentation that highlighted the good work and volunteerism of the NHS this year.
