Notice to Bidders

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: That sealed bids will be received by Hudson Community Schools, in the School Board Room at 136 S. Washington Street, Hudson, IA  50643 before 2:00 p.m. CDT on the 13th day of December, 2021. The bids will be opened immediately following at 2:05 p.m. and publicly read aloud. The project consists of furnishing the following supplies, equipment, and/or services.

HUDSON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
136 S. WASHINGTON STREET
HIGH SCHOOL REOOF REPLACEMENT
HUDSON, IOWA

The bids are for a single Prime Contract for a roof replacement project over the single story academic wing of the High School building. The project consists of the removal and replacement of ballasted single-ply membrane roof where the existing ballast material is to be reused.   

The estimated construction cost for the Project is $175,000. 

Bidding Documents will be available on December 1, 2021.  
***A Public Hearing will be conducted at a meeting to be held at the Hudson Community School Board Room, 136 S. Washington Street, Hudson, IA  50643 at 5:00 PM, on the 29th day of November, 2021, at which time and place any person may appear and file objections to the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and the estimated cost of said project. 

A pre-bid conference is scheduled for December 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the High School at 245 S. Washington Street (Main Entrance Vestibule), Hudson, Iowa 50643.
The Owner will review bids, recommendations and award contract at the Hudson Community School Board Room, 136 S. Washington Street, Hudson, IA  50643 during its Regular Board of Education meeting at 5:00 p.m., on December 13, 2021.  Successful bidders will be notified of award by December 14, 2021. 

Work is anticipated to commence upon Notice to Proceed, on or about June 1, 2022, and be substantially complete by July 18, 2022 and work completed by August 1, 2022, constructed in one phase as shown on the Contract Documents. 

Plans and specifications governing the construction of the proposed Work have been prepared by Levi Architecture of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained through Rapids Reproductions via their website at https://rapidsrepro.com/planroom/ by phone at (800) 383-1223; or in person at their Clive, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Iowa City, Davenport or Dubuque location, in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.  Call ahead to ensure copies will be available for pickup at your selected location. 

Bidders may obtain sets of the Bidding Documents in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders upon depositing the sum of $50.00 (written to Hudson Community Schools) or a MBI Plan Deposit card for each set of documents. 

A second, non-refundable check for $25.00 made out to the printer shall be included if shipping is desired. 

Deposit will be refunded if Bid Documents are returned complete, undamaged, unmarked and reusable, within 14 days of bid submission.  Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of deposit. 

Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid in the form of certified check, credit union share draft, or surety bond written on an original AIA Document A310, Bid Bond is required for this project, and must be submitted at the time of bid. The successful bidder will be required to provide surety Performance and Payment Bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum.

Submit your offer on the Bid Form provided. 

Your offer will be required to be submitted under a condition of irrevocability for a period of twenty (20) days after submission. 

The award of the contract may be made by the Owner to any responsible bidder or bidders offering suitable supplies, equipment and/or service at the lowest price taking into consideration the quality of materials or service in the best interest of the Owner. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interest of the Owner. 

By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa.
