Friday Board Bulletin 10/19/18

Posted Date: 10/19/2018

Board Members:

On Tuesday Kim and I debriefed as we typically do following a board meeting. My first question to her is always 'How did you think the meeting went'? Her response surprised me. She said it was 'fun'. In all my years doing this, that is the first time I have heard a board meeting described as fun! So there you go! My description of the board meeting can be summed up as productive. We had some excellent conversations and accomplished a lot on behalf of the school district. The new van has been purchased and is currently undergoing final preparations by or transportation director to have it ready for the fleet.

I should also point out we had auditors in the district on Monday. Because of the hard work of the office staff here and their diligence in preparation, they were only here the one day. Thanks to Kim, Sheila, and Chad for their work here! I also want to give a shout out to Traci for taking time to be available for the exit interview. While it will be some time before the audit report is ready, I am very pleased with what we heard that day.

Wednesday afternoon was the labor management committee meeting, which was rather uneventful. The fact is, we were finished in about 10 minutes! We saw no reason to sit around and meet if there wasn't anything to talk about! Thursday I attended the employee relations conference in Des Moines, which turned out to be quite a long day!

That is really all for now! Have a great weekend and a reminder I will be gone next week on vacation so there won't be a bulletin. As always, I am available by phone.
