Friday Board Bulletin 11/2/18

Posted Date: 11/02/2018

Board Members:

I returned from vacation on Tuesday this week. It was nice to get away for a few days! While I was largely able to stay current with email, some time was spent catching up on some outstanding items.

Last Friday we had our pressure testing, and the initial results from these tests indicate a fairly low leakage rate, which seems to be good news at least from the perspective of the condition of the roof. A copy of the report is included in the board packet for November and is labeled as exhibit 7.2d if you are interested in reading it more closely. Next week I'll be meeting with the architect and engineer to consider our next steps and it is my hope we will be in a position to finalize the scope and budget for the phase 3 project at our November meeting. I am also anticipating beginning the financing piece during this meeting. This is an aggressive timeline and a lot of loose ends will need to be tied up in order to meet these objectives.

The latter half of the week I was able to complete this round of administrator evaluations and was also able to sit in on a literacy meeting with our AEA and literacy coach. The balanced literacy initiative and work our faculty is completing is quite impressive. I plan to blog about this next week so stay tuned!

Our volleyball team wrapped up its season on Tuesday evening following a hard fought match against Dike. While our team played well, in the end we were unable to overcome a talented Dike team. Congratulations to our girls on a great season. Basketball will begin Monday for the girls! Tonight our football team will host Highland in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Have a great weekend!
