Friday Board Bulletin 5/10/2019

Board Members:

Happy Friday! It is sure nice to see the sun shining today. We have had quite the weather this week! In spite of the rain and cold we had early on, again all the signs and pace of activity are beginning to signify the end of the school year.

The highlight of the week has to be the senior awards assembly on Tuesday. A great way to honor the achievements of our senior class, at the same time we hope it offers inspiration to the underclassmen. This year, our seniors were awarded over $600,000 in scholarships! A big thank you to everyone who worked hard to put on this event, and a special thanks to everyone who has contributed to the HEF each year.

Tuesday afternoon we hosted the junior high conference track meet. It was a huge meet, and we had a lot of people in attendance. I'm uncertain how many, but a few people told me they thought it was over 1,500 people! Because of the number of kids and teams this was a pretty long event. Nonetheless, here at Hudson we have a reputation for hosting a great track meet that is well run. Thanks in large part to the management of the meet by Mr. Wurzer and Mrs. Sallee! They will both say the key to a successful meet is in getting enough volunteers. Kevin once told me that it takes in excess of 60 volunteers to run a meet. If you have been to other schools, that is typically where they run short and meets tend to run a lot longer than they should. Isn't it great to have a school system where we can garner so many volunteers?

Wednesday afternoon we had our construction meeting and hope to have everything dried out again by Monday so we can finish up excavation. The work today is focused on cutting out the old footer from the high school.

Elementary field day

The photo I am sharing today is not from the district track meet (which was postponed to tonight), but rather the elementary field day. One of the funnest and most looked forward to days of the year, we really lucked out on the weather.

Have a wonderful weekend and good luck to all our athletes who will compete in the state qualifying district track meet today. And of course, Happy Mother's Day!
