Friday Board Bulletin 9/12/2019

Posted Date: 09/13/2019

Board Members:

I'm reaching out to you early this week from Des Moines. Tomorrow I'll be tied up in my monthly BoEE meeting and likely won't return until later in the afternoon.
It has been a great week in the district! Our teachers have been knocking it out of the park with instruction in the classroom, we had great conversation during our first labor management meeting of the year, and we strengthened our partnership with the AEA. As an added bonus, I've even had the chance to cross a lot of things of my 'to do' list! I love it when that happens!

Monday was our annual Drive 4UR school event at Colwell Ford, a big thank you to everyone who was able to get out and support this event. It did end up getting a bit crazy around 6:30 when we had a thunderstorm move through town. I'm uncertain if we met the goal, but initial reports are that we did very well.

Wednesday was perhaps one of the busiest days of the week with a Chamber meeting, Labor Management Committee, and finally a construction meeting for Phase III.
This morning I had an opportunity to interview and ultimately add two more substitute teachers to our sub pool. Both of these individuals will be great guest teachers when their time comes. Finally, this afternoon I was able to spend some extended time with the new Chief of Police, Daniel Banks. If you haven't had a chance to meet Chief Banks yet, I can promise you he will be a great partner and his willingness to engage in the school will be incredibly valuable.

The photo I am sharing with you this week illustrates progress on Phase III. It has been a challenging week with regard to progress, as we have had to spend more time than we would have liked dodging the rain. After a morning rain shower, the crew was able to get back to installing the steel beam roof structure.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the big game! I am looking forward to seeing you on Monday night at the board meeting.
