Friday Board Bulletin 10/25/2019

Board Members:

I can hardly believe it, but today marks the end of the first quarter! It really does not seem like all that long ago that we were just starting the school year. Fall is really upon us and that also means parent teacher conferences are next week. Tonight will be the final football game of the season, our volleyball team starts tournament play next week, and just this week the girls cross country team qualified for the state meet. Congratulations are also in order for Sam Hansen who qualified individually for the boys meet.

Speaking of the year flying by, on Tuesday I met with representatives from the National Weather Service to begin preparations for the winter weather season. The NWS provides numerous tools for school districts including weather bulletins, pinpoint tracking, and statewide webinars in advance of significant weather events. A sure sign that winter is coming. Someone told me there is actually snow in the forecast for next week!

On Wednesday I spent time with the administrators, instructional coaches, and our consultants from the AEA as we began a discussion about our teacher leadership program. We had a great discussion to start our examination and evaluation of this program. I'm looking forward to circling back with our local team (the middle of next week) to chart a path forward that not only will focus on teacher leadership, but to hopefully examine this within the context of our total school improvement efforts.

Fall Choir Concert

The photo I am sharing this week is from the 7-12 vocal concert on Tuesday. Truly the highlight of my week, the students sounded great! The fall concert, by the way is another indication the year is passing us by quickly!

Thanks for your efforts and discussion at the board meeting on Monday evening. Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you soon, perhaps at the game this evening!

No bulletin next week as I will be leaving on vacation November 1st.
