Friday Board Bulletin 7/24/2020

Board Members:

I hope you are all well and looking forward to a relaxing weekend. It has been a very busy week from beginning to end! On Wednesday during our construction meeting I remarked to the contractor that although it appeared we were making great progress, it is starting to feel like we're running out of runway! A lot of work remains and the work on the terrazzo floor has really disrupted some of the finish work in the commons.

Thank you for your hard work and willingness to make the difficult decisions that needed to be made on Monday evening. If you are like me, you have been receiving feedback regarding our mitigation plan. If there is any consolation, what I have received has been about 2 to 1 in favor. That being said, the negative vitriol at times seems overwhelming and at times makes it difficult to keep everything in its proper perspective.

I wish I could tell you that the difficult decisions are behind us, but that doesn't appear to be the reality in which we find ourselves. Know that the leadership you are providing our district during these times is right and just.

I was also asked to keep you informed about the number of students who have elected to participate in our voluntary offsite learning program. To date, we are at 22. That doesn't include those who have elected to enroll in a virtual school or have otherwise decided to homeschool for the year. That data is not yet available, but based on an informal estimate, I would put that number at roughly 12.

Have an awesome weekend!

Dr. Tony Voss, Superintendent
