Friday Board Bulletin 9/24/2021

Board Members:

Happy Friday! We have enjoyed a very nice homecoming week and are all looking forward to the big game tonight. Hopefully the little bit of rain we had this afternoon will be the extent of it!

On Monday I met with representatives from Cardinal Construction to review the contract for CM services. I have requested a couple of minor changes and will have that ready for your final approval at our October meeting. We also have the RFP prepared for architectural services so that will also be on the agenda for our next meeting. The other big event this week was bus inspections on Wednesday. These inspections occur roughly 6 months apart and are a great feature to ensure safety of the fleet. In all it was a good inspection in spite of the fact we always come away with some items that need our attention.

Mask mandates continue to be a hot topic around the state. Here in Hudson, things are relatively quiet at the moment. Our metrics continue to suggest current mitigation strategies are effective. Right now we have three positive and confirmed cases as is noted on our matrix

At our last board meeting you probably noticed information about the upcoming convention scheduled for November 17-18. The 17th is actually our regularly scheduled board meeting and will be the first meeting once we have the new board seated. If you would like to attend the convention, please let me know as we'll need to begin making those arrangements now. Since the convention coincides with our regular scheduled meeting, it probably would make the most sense to leave early the morning of the 18th. Here is a link to the convention schedule

Finally, I'll mention our school board candidate workshop, which is scheduled for October 12 from 9:00-11:30 in the board room. Designed specifically for school board candidates who are new to the process, as a sitting board member you are certainly welcomed to attend. This might give you an opportunity to meet the candidates and begin to develop collegial relationships with those who may soon join you on the board.

Have a great weekend

Dr. Tony Voss, Superintendent
