Friday Board Bulletin 1/14/2022

Board Members:

Happy Friday! I hope the week has treated you well and you are able to look forward to a relaxing weekend. The big news of this week was the start of the legislative session on Monday. While the first week of the session consists largely of ceremonial events, the governor's Condition of the State address does offer us a glimpse into priorities for the session. Granted, all of these proposals have to work their way through the legislative process, but they are, nonetheless, a starting point. Among those school related priorities include another push for vouchers, a proposal to set SSA at 2.5% for schools (which equates to $5,189 for Hudson Schools), and a new transparency bill. Details are light on these points since actual legislation has yet to be introduced but I'll be sure to offer analysis once specific policy proposals begin to make their way through the chambers.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our board meeting on Wednesday. While we don't have a tremendous amount of action items, we do have quite a bit to discuss and several guest presenters. We'll round out the evening with an exempt session to discuss wage and salary for next year. You'll notice a link to the negotiations folder for item #9 on your annotated agenda. If you have difficulty with that folder, simply copy the link directly and paste it into your browser. I'm still waiting on a bit more data, but will plug in a direct link to a white position paper before the meeting. I'll be meeting with Dave and Matt Monday morning and be keying in on getting firm instruction from the balance of the board on this issue Wednesday night.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the snow! I got a new snow blower so am actually looking forward to trying it out!
