The Hudson Board of Directors meet on August 19, 2026 for a regular meeting. The following is provided for our community’s information and is meant merely meant to summarize at a high level those actions deemed of most interest to the community. The information contained herein should not be considered exhaustive or final until the board adopts meeting minutes at its next regularly scheduled meeting. 

Reports

Dr. Voss provided an update on the financial status of school district general fund at the close of FY2026. Acknowledging the district is still in the ‘hold open’ period, the final numbers are beginning to firm up with the following salient points at this time:

• General Fund revenue stands at $12,150,030 compared to a budgeted revenue stream of $12,079,035. This means we have exceeded expectations by $70,995.
• General Fund expenditures are currently performing at $11,795,890 compared to a budgeted amount of $12,091,139. At this point, we have exceeded expectations by a margin of $296,249.

Again, there are both payables and receivables that will need to be accrued to FY2026, so these numbers will continue to move some further closing the gap. 

Action

• In a consent resolution, approved the hiring of Sean Leonard for head baseball coach and Michelle Thompson for Internal Controls Specialist; approve interfund activity fund transfers.
• Approved board/superintendent goals for the year to include work in curriculum and instruction; property tax modeling in light of property tax reform legislation recently passed.
• Approved multiple policy updates related to recent legislation.
• Took final action on open enrollment requests IN for the 2026-2027 school year, including the denial of Student A and B and approval of Students C and D. Also approved special request OUT for Students E and F. 

Commendations

• Congratulations to Laynee Oldenburger for receiving NICL all conference academic honors for a GPA exceeding 3.33 in softball
• Congratulations to the following for receiving all conference softball honors: Jordyn Rhoades, 1^st Team All Conference, Class 2A NE All District Team; Laynee Oldenburger 2^nd Team All Conference; Maci Ingles, 2^nd Team All Conference; Briar Bowers, 3^rd Team All Conference, Hannay Chardoulias, Honorable Mention
