Crystal Betts grew up in Osage, Iowa and graduated from Osage High School in 1998. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with an elementary education degree and reading and mathematics endorsements, she started teaching Title I Reading at Plainfield Elementary. The following three years she taught at Clarksville Elementary, grades 1-3. Mrs. Betts completed her master's degree in literacy education from UNI while teaching first grade at West Cedar Elementary in Waverly for ten years. Her last seven years at Waverly-Shell Rock were as an instructional coach supporting the elementaries and middle school. In 2023 Crystal completed her Certificate in Administration from UNI and started as elementary principal at Hudson Elementary. Crystal and her husband live in Waverly and are parents to three active children.
