Friday Board Bulletin 4/14/2023

Board Members:

Ann was able to return home on Wednesday evening! It is great to have her home, but at the same time it is a bit scary. I was used to having a nurse come in and check on her every 4 hours, take vitals and ask a bunch of medical questions. Ironically, there was some comfort in that. Now we are playing the waiting game until we learn the next steps, which is next week. She has a follow up appointment on Wednesday at 2:00 in Iowa City with treatment to begin that same day, so I will not be at the board meeting.

I spoke with Dave yesterday morning so he has been briefed on my pending absence. While this will be the first board meeting I have ever missed, I am confident that you will do well without me. The agenda should be very familiar to you all and all my recommendations are squared away for your consideration. Mr. Wagner will be in my chair helping lead the conversation and Mr. Dieken will be available until 5:45 to help as well. As you review the documents over the weekend, if you have any questions that I can help with in advance please don't hesitate to reach out to me! Truth be told, as much as there is on the agenda I am confident you will be finished early!

It was another slow week from the standpoint of official action on bills. The only action from the Senate was on SSB 1208. It was passed out of a subcommittee. This bill includes some language around STOs and eliminates the non-public textbook requirement, among other things. There will likely be some changes as this bill moves forward.

That is all for now. Have a great weekend.
