Friday Board Bulletin 7/28/2023

Board Members:

I do hope that you are all staying cool in this weather! Hopefully this isn't a harbinger of things to come when school starts in a few weeks. I anticipate any day now the cooling tower at the high school will be removed, meaning ho air conditioning in that building until next spring. Here is a copy of the blog article I wrote about what our students and employees in that building can expect when they return to school.

The good news is there are a lot of construction workers on site right now. I have to be really careful when navigating the construction zone at the new addition. The number of heavy equipment operators concentrated in such a dense area means everyone needs to stay alert. The geopiers have started to go in today, so that adds to the congestion. But, progress!

Signs are all around the district that we are closing in on the start of the new school year. We had the parking lot painted this week, and hopefully by the end of today we'll have all the new designated employee parking behind the PK-8 building finished. Also at this point the PK-8 building is finished with the exception of 'punch list' items, which are scheduled for Monday. Next week the team will move in force to the high school to start over there. Frankly there isn't a whole lot of deep cleaning that will be happening in that building due to the construction. If the carpet hasn't been removed it soon will be, so shampooing carpet is being limited to high traffic and public areas. There is no doubt the logistics that will be required to navigate this school year will be substantial.

Have a great weekend!
