Board Members:
I hope you are all doing well. As I mentioned last week, the summer days are quickly beginning to slip away. Before we know it, school will once again be in session. Induction with our new employees began today and it is always exciting to see and experience the energy that new teachers bring.
On Tuesday, Sheila and I spent some time with our bus drivers working on the routes. We had to do some shifting due to load size and road construction. The main takeaway is that all of our routes are very full this year! Here is a blog article I wrote this week if you are interested. Since the majority of our routes travel north out of Hudson, I do think the road construction on Hudson Road is going to cause some delays. At the same time, we will have to approach Twin Oaks from the north, which will compound those complexities.
Work on the inside of the high school has really picked up the pace. We had our state fire marshal inspection yesterday afternoon and the local building inspector this morning. Ceiling tile is being installed in the rooms that were completed with this phase and our maintenance/custodial crew is following right behind them. Our goal is to open the building to teachers on Wednesday. That means some work over the weekend but everyone is handling it well. Meanwhile on the outside, the remainder of the old shop building will be down today. I am hopeful we will be able to move the buses back to the bus barn by the beginning part of next week. As is always the case, I am quite certain everything will come together at the very last minute!
As you finish preparations for the board meeting next week, the big item for discussion will be participation in dual sports. I suspect we'll have visitors that evening that will want to provide some commentary and listen in on the board's discussion of the topic. We'll also have Mrs. Betts in attendance, so you'll have an opportunity to meet here as well. Other than that, I would encourage you to take a close look at item 6.2d as it relates to the water bill for the pavilion. I am interested in your thoughts on this topic.
