Friday Board Bulletin 9/22/2023

Board Members,

Thank you for your hard work on Wednesday night. I hope you found the presentation from Mr. Driscoll informative. As a follow up, he has started analyzing our most recent data set from the Conditions of Learning survey administered last spring. I also wanted to let you know that I have adjusted our Board Presentation Schedule, which now calls for our October meeting to be held in the high school. We'll plan on starting at 5:00 p.m. with a tour and have the FFA presentation right at 6:00.

I think the highlight of my week this week was delivering the board commendations yesterday. As I mentioned on Monday night, our honorees probably never knew they earned accolades from the board unless they read the minutes or stumble across it on social media. I shared with you one post from yesterday, another employee got pretty emotional when she got hers. It really underscores the importance of positive and public reinforcement. Shame on me for not thinking of this years ago. 

Today we have a videographer in the district interviewing students and employees for our next promotional video. We chose today specifically because it is homecoming. If our last video is indicative of how professional this one will be, I can't wait to see the finished product!

I am also spending part of my time today working on a grant through the BHCGA to receive funding for irrigating our softball and baseball fields. If successful, this grant would fund approximately 50% of the cost. Our initial estimates are somewhere in the range of $50,000, so this will have a definite impact if we are granted the award.
