Thank you for your focused energy on Wednesday night! I do wish we had more time to spend on the tour, but under the circumstances I think efficiency won the day. Keep in mind that we will have many more opportunities to tour the construction site, and if you want a personalized tour at anytime please let me know, and I'd be happy to accommodate you!

We didn't have a lot of time for general discussion last night, but I did want you to be aware of the fact that substitute employees has been, and will continue to be a significant challenge. In the last week, we had ten para and teacher positions that we were unable to find substitutes for. Our staff have been very flexible and willing to step up, but I am concerned about the long term sustainability of this model. We have made significant strides in providing competitive wages (admittedly we still have some work to do here), but I am inclined to believe this is less about wages and more about simply a generalized labor shortage. 

If you are looking for some entertainment, the Haunted Maze Fundraiser for the fine arts department is on Oct. 27-28 from 7:00-10:00. Additionally, the musical is right around the corner from November 10-12. 

I don't think this is a commendation, but something to be aware of: we had ten para and teacher positions last week that we were unable to find a substitute to cover. The staff were all flexible and willing to step up and help where they were able.
