Friday Board Bulletin 10/27/2023

Board Members:

I hope that you are all doing well this rainy Friday morning! It's pretty quiet here in the district as school isn't in session. Our teachers had a very busy week with conferences on Monday and Tuesday. I'm certain they are grateful for the day off today!

The big news of the week was the release of the Iowa Performance Profiles yesterday afternoon. Our performance labels remain unchanged from a year ago, with the elementary school receiving an 'Exceptional' ranking, among the top 1.67% of schools in the state (21 of 1,295) schools statewide of; and the high school receiving a 'Commendable' ranking. The one caveat is that our students with disabilities (those with IEPs) did not meet the benchmark, meaning that subgroup is targeted for improvement. This closely aligns with the press release from the Department of Education, which suggests this is an area of statewide concern. We will be meeting with the AEA the first part of November to consider how we can close this gap.

Have a great weekend and enjoy this fall weather! (Unfortunately the rain has slowed down construction a bit outside.)

Superintendent
