Friday Board Bulletin 12/20/18

Posted Date: 12/21/2018

Board Members:

Thank you for your focused effort on Monday night. We had a great meeting where a lot of routine business was addressed and I was able to get to the music concert in plenty of time. Tuesday was the official release of the Iowa School Designations that are part of the new ESSA act (which replaced No Child Left Behind). You can review our results and my commentary about the designations here.

Wednesday afternoon we had an interest based bargaining meeting with PERB. Our primary goal and task for this meeting was to establish norms and set a schedule. It went well and we were able to accomplish our work in about an hour. Thanks to Matt for taking time from his schedule to help out. Yesterday morning we held a pre-bid meeting for phase III of the elementary renovation project and it was well attended. This is great news since the competitions should really drive the price!

Of course today is Friday, the last day of school before Christmas break and the end of the first semester. It is hard to believe it, but this break marks the midpoint in the school year. Next week the office will be open Wednesday-Friday to be closed again the following week on on Monday and Tuesday. Second semester is set to begin on January 3rd. Until then, we won't have a Friday bulletin and my blogging will be limited. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

First Graders Performing Readers Theater in Superintendent Office

The picture I am sharing today is from some first grade visitors I had to my office on Wednesday morning. These youngsters, under the guidance of Mrs. Menefee shared their readers theater with me about the missing gingerbread man.
