Friday Board Bulletin 7/10/2020

Board Members:

As we begin today, I want to welcome our new Accounting Clerk/Board Secretary Sue Trunck to the district. Sue started on Wednesday this week and hit the ground running! After two very busy days we didn't scare her off and I'm looking forward to seeing her back on Monday. In her short time with us, she is already proving herself to be a valuable asset and someone we'll be able to rely on. Her skill set matches our needs nicely!

It has been another very busy week. I have spent a good portion of my time preparing mitigation procedures and protocols that will be presented for your approval at our July meeting. Along with that, I have conducted a couple of surveys to gauge where our families are on some of these issues. The results are not going to make these decisions easy.

I have also worked on our Return to Learn plan, reading up on remote learning. We'll have some time to discuss my findings and recommendations at our upcoming board meeting. Monday afternoon our District Leadership Team met. I am comforted by the level of professionalism across the spectrum. Our teacher leaders have been top notch providing sage advice all the way through this process.

The last couple of days have been spent reviewing new policies that deal with the implementation of the Emergency Paid Sick Leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).

In between all of that, I have found time to supervise the Phase III project (which is coming along nicely). A real highlight for me is seeing the progress and the finishes really starting to take shape. Some of the furniture for the new office arrived on Thursday so it was fun to start seeing that space begin to fill out. We had a construction meeting on Wednesday afternoon and everything is on track.

All of this essentially in preparation for our July 20th meeting. This meeting is shaping up to have quite a dense agenda. Because of the density, I might suggest starting early. The yellow highlights indicate placeholders for exhibits that are not yet complete. At the same time, some of the completed agenda items may have supplemental material that is also still under development. If/when that material does become part of the agenda, I'll be sure to highlight it in a different color so as to draw your eye to it. Any additions will come no later than the close of business next Friday (and I'll try very hard to avoid being that late).

If you are looking for an area of particular focus, I might recommend section 6.1b; 7.1, 7.4. The other sections are important as well and we'll hit on them briefly, but at the same time are more routine.

A reminder for you that I'll be looking for your approval to back our meeting up to 5:00 due to the density of the agenda and to accommodate our administrators.

My apologies for the clinical approach to the bulletin the last couple weeks. It's just been that kind of summer!  Have a great weekend!
