Friday Board Bulletin 10/30/2020

Posted Date: 10/30/2020

Board Members:

Congratulations to our volleyball team on a successful season. While they ended their run a bit prematurely, I am very proud of their efforts and enjoyed watching them compete this year. Congratulations are also in order to Olivia Jursik and Levi Budreau who were selected for the 2020 Iowa All-State Choir! While the All-State festival won't occur this year, it takes nothing away from these students and this prestigious accomplishment. Yours truly made All-State way back in 1989! Finally, we wish good luck to both our boys and girls cross country teams who will be traveling to Fort Dodge tomorrow to compete in the state meet.

This week we also held parent teacher conferences via Zoom. For the most part it went well, although participation numbers are still being tabulated. Over the course of the next couple of weeks our elementary teachers will be reaching out to families that weren't able to participate to ensure that we can have this very important conversation with them. We also had our audit this week, which went well. A big shout out to Chad and the staff here in the office for their work on the audit. Since it was conducted remotely this year, it added quite a bit more workload on our end. Our exit interview went well and there were no surprises.

Unfortunately our COVID numbers are trending in the wrong direction and we have experienced a challenging week. What we are seeing in the county and state is being mirrored in the district. Here is our weekly update where I intimate that a change in condition will not automatically trigger a change in instructional model. It will instead activate a broader discussion around the county about possible strategies that may need to be implemented. This of course could include a change in model. I'll be sure to keep you informed of those discussions as they occur.

For now though, have an enjoyable weekend. I think the weather on Saturday is going to be pleasant, if not a bit breezy. I'll be taking that opportunity to finish up some work outside before it gets really cold!
